Air pollution hits Tehran

Iranian Meteorological Organization announced that Tehran, the capital of Iran, is in the red zone due to air pollution. The air quality index (AQI) was reported to be 205, meaning it is very unhealthy for all age groups, especially sensitive groups such as those with cardiac and respiratory problems.

While smog covers the city, the organization has demanded that schools be closed for two days, stricter traffic rules be implemented, and that the elderly and sick be encouraged to stay indoors.
