airline el salvador volaris announces acceptance of bitcoin payment

Mexico-based airline Volaris announced that it will soon begin accepting payments in Bitcoin, at a ceremony to launch a subsidiary in the Central American country of El Salvador as the flag carrier airline. El Salvador President Nayip Bukele, who attended the event, said, “I believe Volaris will be the first airline in the world to accept Bitcoin. I don’t know if there will be others, but at least there aren’t any other companies right now. Only this company will accept Bitcoinas as well as ‘Chivo Wallet’ (electronic money),” he said.
