Speaking at the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev praised his country’s exceptionally close ties with Türkiye, calling their relationship a model for global diplomacy. Emphasizing that shared heritage does not always guarantee peace, Aliyev declared, “The relationship between Türkiye and Azerbaijan should be an example for their neighbors.” He highlighted the strategic importance of the Shusha Declaration, signed five years ago alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which formally elevated their friendship into a binding alliance. Underscoring this unbreakable bond, Aliyev stated that if faced with adversity, either nation would step up to defend the other “with all its means, including military power.” Addressing an international audience in the liberated city, the President also noted how such stable regional partnerships have been crucial in developing Azerbaijan’s massive transit infrastructure connecting East and West.
