Blue Origin launched an all-female crew into space aboard its New Shepard rocket from Texas, marking the first such mission since 1963. The six-member team included pop star Katy Perry, journalist Lauren Sanchez (fiancée of Jeff Bezos), former NASA engineer Aisha Bowe, researcher Amanda Nguyen, CBS anchor Gayle King, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn.
The suborbital flight lasted just over 10 minutes, with about four minutes in microgravity beyond the Karman line. After landing, Perry kissed the ground and said she felt “love” during the journey, adding she will “100 percent” write a song about the experience.
Blue Origin did not disclose the cost of the trip, though earlier seats have sold for up to $28 million.
