Ali Varol, a teacher and avid fisherman, had an unexpected encounter while fishing off the coast of Antalya. While angling for lamb fish about 200 meters offshore, Varol hooked a massive shark weighing 25 kilos. Despite initial surprise, Varol managed to capture the moment on his mobile phone as he reeled in the shark. He expressed excitement until he realized he had hooked a shark instead of the anticipated lamb fish. Varol marveled at the shark’s size before it tore off the fishing line and vanished into the depths. Reflecting on the experience, Varol described it as his first encounter with such a large catch. He released the shark back into the sea and shared the memorable moment with his daughter, his trusted shipmate on their fishing excursions.
