During ongoing excavations at Zerzevan Castle, a 3,000-year-old Roman garrison near Diyarbakır, Türkiye, archaeologists have discovered the main entrance gate of the 1,900-year-old Temple of Mithras. This temple was used for secret Mithraic ceremonies, and it’s believed that Mithrasists from around the world gathered there for an annual ritual. Once the excavations are completed, more mysteries about the Temple of Mithras are expected to be unveiled.
