Anti-government protest Moldova

Nearly 7,000 demonstrators gathered in the Chișinău city to protest the rapid increase in inflation rate and gas prices in Moldova. The demonstrators demanded the resignation of the current government and the president, Maia Sandu and shouted anti-government slogans. The police intervened the crowd, who attempted to advance towards the Presidential Palace and the paliament.

Three parties, including the Moldovan Communists, also joined the protests. The exiled opposition politician Ilan Shor supported the protest by connecting via video conference from Israel and urged demonstrators to press for early elections. Referring to Moldova’s problem with importing gas from Gazprom, Shor said that people who will make people’s lives easier with Moldovagaz should come to power.
