Forest fires have been raging in the northeastern Argentina province of Corrientes for weeks. According to official statements, 335,000 hectares of land have been reduced to ash as a result of the flames. In a statement, Corrientes Governor Gustavo Valdes said, “It was the burning of more than 300,000 hectares of land that caused the most damage to us. The situation is extremely dire.”
