At least 141 killed after 19th century bridge collapses in India

At least 141 people were killed after a suspension bridge collapsed over the Machchhu River in Morbi, Gujarat State, India. According to authorities, at least 177 people were rescued in the incident, and the search and rescue efforts continue at the scene. An investigation is underway regarding the cause of the collapse of the bridge.

The 230-meter-long bridge was built during British rule in the 19th century and reopened on October 26 after months of renovation.
