Following the rise in oil prices in Germany as a result of the Ukraine-Russia conflict, bread prices rose as well. The consequences of the Ukraine-Russia conflict are still being felt in Germany. While many bakeries in Germany raised their bread prices, the authorities cited a number of factors, including the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which disrupted supply chains from both countries, the poor harvest season, supply chains disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, rising energy prices, and high labor and production costs.  Bakery owners in Germany anticipate a 40% price increase in sugar, a 35% increase in grain, a 25% increase in flour, and a 20% increase in other bakery products compared to the previous year.
