Biden claims talking to insulin inventor who died before he was born

Biden claimed in an event in Florida, that he talked to Dr. Frederick Banting, who made the discovery of insulin. However, Frederick Banting and the co-discoverer of insulin, Prof. John James Macleod, who won the Nobel Prize in 1923, both died before the year 1942, in which the US president was born.

Biden asked the crowd “How many of you know somebody with diabetes, and needs insulin,” then added “Do you know how much it costs to make that insulin drug for diabetes? … It was invented by a man who did not patent it because he wanted it available for everyone. I spoke to him, OK?”.
