Boy Rescued 5 Days After Venezuela Earthquakes

A 12-year-old boy named Carlos has been pulled alive from the rubble in Venezuela’s La Guaira region five days after devastating twin earthquakes struck the country. The successful rescue was achieved through a joint operation by disaster response teams from Ecuador and the Dominican Republic. Reflecting on the mission, the Quito Metropolitan Fire Department noted that finding life days after the disaster “is the greatest motivation for us to continue our work.” Esteban Cardenas Varela, head of the Quito Fire Department, praised the relentless persistence of the crews and their refusal to give up. Emphasizing the team’s ongoing dedication to the search efforts, Varela declared, “Let no one doubt that we are working with all our might for a new life.”
