Brazilian local councilor Sabaha Filho threw away 300,000 reals out of the window of a state building in Candido Mendes, claiming that it was bribed to him by Mayor Jose Bonifacio Rocha de Jesus to resign. Scattering the money saying “This money belongs to the people”, Filho went to the police and made an official complaint. Rocha de Jesus, on the other hand, denied the allegations and describing the events as a political demonstration. He announced that he would file a complaint against Filho for defamation as well.

Filho claimed that Mayor Rocha de Jesus said that he was planning to replace him with a supporter and that his life is in danger.
