China’s Minister of Water Resources, Li Guoying, called on relevant departments to redeploy, oversee, and implement preventive measures to prevent China from being affected by Hurricane Doxuri and to combat storms and floods triggered by the typhoons. Schools, businesses and factories were temporarily closed in Xiamen, Quanzhou and Zhangzhou. It is stated that overflowing may occur in some regions, especially in the Haihe River basin.
“Typhoon Doksuri, this year’s 5th typhoon, is much stronger than previous estimates due to higher density, more water vapor and wider impact area,” said Li.
