A Chinese coast guard ship ramming a Philippine coast guard ship to stop it from advancing in the South China Sea increased the tension between the two countries yesterday. The Chinese coast guard stated that the Philippine ship entered Chinese waters “without permission” and that it was cut off after being warned. Meanwhile, Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro stated that the Chinese coast guard ship had violated international law by harassing the Philippines’ supply boat.
