Clashes broke out again in the Guayas No. 1 Deprivation of Liberty Center, also known as Litoral Penitentiary, located at the city of Guayaquil, in the South American country of Ecuador. Dozens of people were injured in the firefight that broke out between prison inmates. Meanwhile, army personnel and police officers were dispatched at the prison and injured inmates were taken to the hospitals. According to the authorities, the clashes in the prison have ended and the incident has taken under control. Also they stated that the director of the prison was discharged after the clashes.
On the other hand, clashes were broke out in Guayas prison in September 2021. In the clashes that were described as the bloodiest prison incident in the country, 119 people lost their lives in the incident. Again, in the clashes that broke out in the same prison in November, 62 people had lost their lives. In Ecuador, there are 39 thousand prisoners in 65 prisons with the total capacity of 30 thousand prisoners.
