Colombians cycled to celebrate National biodiversity day

More than 500 cyclists participated in the “Cycling for the Planet” event, which was convened by the World Wildlife Fund, in Guatavita, Colombia on Sunday to celebrate Colombia’s National Biodiversity Day. The cyclists raced in 16- and 30-kilometers long circuits to raise awareness about the native species in Colombia. Authorities stated the number of native species as more than 67,000.

“Cycling for the Planet is the first event that we make to push people to care for biodiversity in Colombia. We are promoting the use of bicycles, which is friendly to the planet, and to our biodiversity so that each one of us can make a difference.” says Sandra Valenzuela, Executive Director of WWF Colombia.
