Authorities detained four individuals involved in the unrest. Residents of Martinique, along with Guadeloupe and New Caledonia, have raised concerns about low living standards compared to mainland France. Protests have also spread to Guadeloupe, where a recent island-wide power outage intensified frustrations over economic disparity.

$6M Banana Artwork Eaten Again in French Museum

A visitor at France’s Centre-Pompidou Metz museum ate Maurizio Cattelan’s famous banana artwork “Comedian,” taped to a wall and valued at $6.2 million. The banana was swiftly replaced, in line with the artist’s instructions. It marks at least the fourth time the piece has been consumed since its debut in 2019
