Cumbre Vieja Volcano in La Palma, the 5th largest island of Spain’s Canary Islands, began spewing lava and ash again after hours of calm. Officials, stating that the lava is very close to the sea, warned that more poisonous gas may be released if the lava reaches the sea. The lava flowing from Cumbre Vieja Volcano has spread over 237 hectares so far, destroying 513 houses and nearly 20 kilometers of roads. The number of evacuees in the region so far has reached 6,200.
