deadly clashes in Iraq amid political tension kills 5

Five people were killed in a clash between Saraya al-Salam of the Sadr Group led by Moqtada Sadr and the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq Movement led by Qais Khazali in the southern Iraqi city of Basra. The tension that began late at night following the murder of Fouad Hussein, a member of the Saraya al-Salam militia, and his bodyguard in Basra center, escalated into an armed conflict in the morning.

Following the events, Qais Khazali’s leader decided to close all offices in Iraq until further notice.
