Deadly Landslides Strike Japan After Typhoon Dujuan

At least four people have died and six remain missing after heavy rains from Typhoon Dujuan triggered severe landslides across Japan. Approaching from the Pacific Ocean, the powerful storm battered several prefectures and prompted urgent evacuation warnings for nearly two million residents. While the typhoon is gradually losing its intensity today, large-scale search and rescue operations are actively underway in Chiba and Kanagawa to locate the missing victims. In addition to the tragic casualties, the extreme weather has caused widespread flooding and left over 50,000 households without power. The severe conditions also heavily disrupted the nation’s travel infrastructure, forcing the cancellation of nearly 300 flights and halting both land and sea transportation.
