The number of people who died in the flood that occurred after heavy rains in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul increased to 29 and the number of those missing increased to 60. A total of 10,242 people were evacuated from their homes.
State Governor Eduardo Leite said that the floods have probably been the most critical disaster in the state’s history.
