Despite withdrawal, protests against new law continue in Georgia

Protests in Georgia, which started in front of the parliament building in the capital Tbilisi after the approval of a draft law “on transparency of foreign influence” on March 7, continue despite the parliament’s withdrawal of the law. Demanding the release of the 133 detainees, the protesters chanted “No to Russian law” and “Long live Georgia”. The national anthems of Georgia and Ukraine also were sung during the protests.

The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that 132 protesters were released, and one protester remains detained for allegedly assaulting police officers.
