The final state of Mariupol was viewed from the air by Ukraine’s military battalion, Azov. “40 days of hell in Mariupol,” the Mariupol Municipality captioned the images. Many buildings had been destroyed and smoke was rising from many of them in Mariupol, which had become a ghost town.
Irina Vereshchuk, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister, said that 100 Turkish citizens were waiting to be evacuated in Mariupol. “Greek citizens were evacuated in some way. Early in March, evacuations were more likely. A number of Turks were also evacuated. Foreigners and Ukrainians in Mariupol awaiting evacuation are the same to us, and they have the same evacuation options. In Mariupol, there are currently 100 Turkish citizens awaiting evacuation. Turkish President Erdogan has stated that Turkish and Ukrainian citizens, particularly children and women, will be evacuated,” she said.
