At least 30 dolphins were reported to have washed up on Califin Beach in La Paz, Mexico, in the state of Baja California Sur. Teams from Mexico’s Federal Environmental Protection Agency went to the scene to examine the dead dolphins and investigate the cause. Experts stated that as a result of their observations and research in the environment, no signs of attack were found on the dolphins’ bodies, so the incident was not the result of an attack by a killer whale or other wild animal.
While some dolphins are seen to shed blood from their bodies, it is thought that the dolphins were disoriented by toxic wastes or washed ashore due to the current in the sea. Authorities reported that they will try to shed light on the incident by performing autopsies on the bodies of the dolphins whose cause of death has not yet been determined.
