President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a virtual meeting with Alper Gezeravci, Türkiye’s inaugural space traveler, who is currently in quarantine. Gezeravci is set to embark on a journey to the International Space Station, marked by a ceremony scheduled for the night of January 17th to January 18th.

Fighting intensified last night following a Druze assault, with convoys of tribesmen advancing in vehicles. Local sources report ongoing clashes west of the city.
The Syrian Interior Ministry stated that government forces have not deployed to Sweida and remain on standard alert. However, an unnamed Israeli official said Israel has agreed to allow limited Syrian government access to the area for 48 hours due to instability.
Despite efforts by Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara to reduce tensions, the violence has escalated, with hundreds reportedly killed.
