Former South Korean President Moon Jae-in has been indicted on bribery charges related to the alleged illegal hiring of his former son-in-law at Thai Eastar Jet.
Prosecutors claim Moon received indirect benefits when the airline’s founder, ex-lawmaker Lee Sang-jik, was appointed to a government agency after hiring Moon’s former son-in-law, who reportedly earned 217 million won between 2018 and 2020.
Moon’s Democratic Party rejected the charges as a “political conspiracy.” Moon served as president from 2017 to 2022.
