The carnival season, called the “5th Season”, began yesterday in cities adjacent to the Rhine River in Germany. Despite the cold and rain, festivalgoers flocked to the festival areas in the morning, wearing different costumes.
The carnival, held in many cities, especially Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Mainz, will continue until the end of February.
