First-Ever Turkish Astronaut Prepares to Travel to ISS

Alper Gezeravcı, the first Turkish astronaut who is preparing to go to the International Space Station within the framework of Türkiye’s First Manned Space Mission, gave an interview to the Ihlas News Agency. Giving information about the preparations within the framework of the Space Mission, Gezeravcı said he went through an intense 8-month training, which was delayed due to the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes at the beginning of last year. Stating that he was happy to take part in the task, Gezeravcı also said that it was extremely gratifying to perform this duty on the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic. He wished that this mission would be an inspiration to future Turkish generations.

The First Manned Space Mission will be initiated on January 18 at 01:11 AM. with a launch from Kennedy Space Center in the United States.
