Despite a decline in retail sales in the Czech Republic over the past 7 months, food prices have continued to rise, according to data from the Czech Statistics Office. In November, there was a 9.6% decrease in retail sales of non-food products, a 9.2% decrease in food products, and an 8.7% decrease in retail sales overall. In the year-long comparison, sales of pharmaceuticals decreased by 5.8%, household products by 12%, electronic goods by 8.4%, and clothing and shoes by 5.1%.

Officials attribute the high prices to increased costs of electricity and gas, disruptions in imports of agricultural products, and the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
