The Azovstal factory located in the under Russian siege Ukrainian city of Mariupol, was hit by the Russian army. Video footages of the attack were released on social media by the so-called Ministry of Internal Affairs of the pro-Russian separatist Donetsk People’s Republic in the Donbass region of Ukraine. Although it is not clear when the footages were recorded, it is estimated that it was recorded after May 3.
On the other hand, Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko previously announced that communication with the Ukrainian forces in Azovstal was cut off. Meanwhile, Russia stated that they launched an attack on the factory and entered the factory building. The Ukrainian side later stated that communication with the Ukrainian forces at the factory was restored.
