The forest fires that started in Europe due to the extreme heat hit Italy as well. A fire that started last night in the town of Cinisi on the island of Sicily quickly spread because of the wind. The flames advanced near Falcone Borsellino Airport. Flights at the airport were suspended until 11:00 local time. Several risky residential areas in Palermo were evacuated.
