forest fires erupt in Russia’s Siberia

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia announced that local fires started in many points of Siberia and the Far East Region and that the entry of civilians into forest areas was prohibited. “The decision to impose martial law in the regions of Voronezh, Kaliningrad, Trans-Baikal, Khabarovsk, Krasnoyarsk, Khakassia, Tuva and Buryat has been taken” the statement said.

It was stated that fires broke out in 283, Krasnoyarsk 484 and Novosibirsk 433 grassland and forest areas in the Omsk Region of Russia, and the fires were extinguished. On the other hand, in the summer of 2020 in Siberia, more than 2 million hectares of forest area was turned to ash by fires.
