A deadly explosion occurred in the western state of Niger after a fuel tanker overturned, killing at least 60 people and injuring scores.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Commander for Niger State, Kumar Tsukwam, said most of those killed were poor locals who had come to collect the spilled fuel despite all the obstacles after the tanker overturned.
Tsukwam said firefighters managed to extinguish the fire.
