Electricity generation in Palestine’s Gaza Strip has come to a standstill as Israel has imposed limits on fuel inflows from Qatar since November 2. Mohamed Thabet, Public Relations and Media Director of Gaza Electricity Distribution Company, stated that the supply gap in electricity will reach 70 percent due to fuel shortages. An urgent call was made to the international community to allow fuel inflow to prevent the electricity crisis in the region by The Energy and Natural Resources Authority in Gaza.
Gaza needs 500 megawatts of electricity generation and that the maximum generation currently does not exceed 200 megawatts, authorities said.
