Germany Highlights Türkiye’s Geopolitical Clout

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul emphasized Türkiye’s crucial role in global conflict zones during a recent joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan. Speaking after the Türkiye-Germany Strategic Dialogue Mechanism meeting, Wadephul praised Ankara’s political and economic leverage in ongoing crises, including the Russia-Ukraine war and US-Iran negotiations. He stressed that close consultation with Türkiye remains a top priority for Germany and voiced strong support for expanding strategic ties between Ankara and the European Union. Reaffirming Berlin’s commitment to the partnership, Wadephul added that Germany will stand as a reliable ally should Türkiye pursue full EU membership.
