German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier was kept waiting at the door of the plane after landing at Doha International Airport in Qatar, where he visited after Israel and Oman. He was greeted by the Qatar Minister of State for Foreign Affairs after about 30 minutes and brought to his meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on time.
The incident was interpreted by the German press as a reaction to Germany’s policy of supporting Israel. No official statement was made by Qatari authorities on the issue.
