heavy snowfall grounds 280 flights across Japan

Heavy snow and winds caused 280 flights to be canceled in various parts of Japan. The Japan Meteorology Agency warned that temperatures would drop to minus 12 degrees and that many regions would experience the coldest days in the past 10 years. The cold air wave brought heavy snow and winds to many areas of the country, with snow depths exceeding 10 centimeters in certain regions like Kokkaido, Nagano, Okayama, and Tottori. The bad weather conditions also caused problems with transportation as many highways were closed due to the risk of ice.

Local authorities have urged people to prepare for potential water shortages and power disruptions caused by frozen pipes and to avoid non-essential travel in areas with heavy snowfall.
