Kyrgyzstan has reached a major milestone by launching its first-ever national satellite into space aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. Controlled from Bishkek, the new satellite will independently monitor the nation’s glaciers and water resources, track illegal activities, and observe environmental changes. Attending the launch in California, President Sadyr Japarov celebrated the achievement, declaring that future generations “will remember October 1, 2026” as a pivotal day for the country. The mission officially ends Kyrgyzstan’s costly reliance on foreign space data. Highlighting the long-term benefits, Japarov noted, “We will monitor every single square meter of this area… This will yield good results economically and environmentally.”
