Plans to expand the Four Seasons Hotel in Istanbul’s Sultanahmet district with new buildings have been abandoned. The site, located on the ruins of the Great Byzantine Palace, will be opened as an archaeological park under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Construction, approved in 2006 but halted by a court ruling in 2009, remains incomplete. The fate of the existing structures is unclear. Historian Hayri Fehmi Yılmaz emphasized the site’s historical significance, highlighting its connections to the Byzantine and Ottoman periods. The restored area will soon welcome visitors.
