historical mexican pyramid displayed in China’s ice-themed park

As part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Mexico diplomatic relations, an ice replica of the Kukulkan Pyramid is on display in China’s largest ice-themed park. The winter wonderland, which spans 820,000 square meters and is themed “The light of the Winter Olympics shines all over the world,” welcomes visitors with more than 65 sites of snow and ice carvings and sculptures.

The ice pyramid, known as the “eternal return” of the Sun, is a miniature version of the Kukulkan Pyramid, which is located in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. The Kukulkan Pyramid’s ice architecture was incorporated into the construction plan for the 23rd Ice and Snow World at the request of the Mexican Embassy in China. More than 500 ice sculpture builders worked for seven days in December last year under the supervision of the National Institute of Anthropology and History of Mexico’s Ministry of Culture.
