A fire broke out in a hostel in Wellington, New Zealand, where construction workers, hospital workers, and people who had been convicted of petty crimes were staying. Six people lost their lives, and eleven people could not have been reached. The police stated that a clearer explanation can be made after the rooms in the hostel were made accessible.
Wellington Regional Chief Nick Pyatt expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased, saying that the biggest disaster in recent years had been experienced.
