In a recent statement, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the tragic consequences of a Houthi attack on the commercial ship “M/V True Confidence” in the Red Sea. The incident, involving the firing of an anti-ship ballistic missile by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, resulted in three fatalities and four injuries, three of them critical. The Barbados-flagged Liberia-registered cargo ship sustained serious damage, prompting the crew to abandon the vessel. Coalition warships are currently assessing the situation following their intervention. Notably, this marks the fifth anti-ship ballistic missile launched by the Houthis in the last two days, with two affecting cargo ships (M/V MSC Sky II and M/V True Confidence), and one being successfully intercepted by USS Carney (DDG 64).
