Hundreds of people marched through Tokyo’s Shibuya district to mark the second anniversary of Israel’s October 7, 2023 attacks on Gaza, calling for an end to genocide and occupation. Protesters chanted “Free Palestine” and “Stop the Genocide,” urging global sanctions against Israel.
Japanese activist Takamori Hirayama criticized Japan’s talks on buying Israeli drones and its refusal to recognize Palestine, saying, “They must stop this complicity.” Scottish resident Caron Gold called on “all governments to isolate Israel,” while Palestinian participant Hanin Siam urged Japan to impose sanctions and end trade with Israel, saying, “Every human being has a moral responsibility to stop this nightmare.”
