Emerging in the Atlantic Ocean, Hurricane Julia is advancing towards Central America countries after hitting Nicaragua with heavy rains and strong winds. A total of 15 died in the El Salvador, Honduras and Panama countries.

While no casualties were reported in Nicaragua, officials said there were floods and landslides caused by the category 1 level Julia. The floods submerged 800 houses and 13 thousand families were evacuated in the country.

A house in El Salvador collapsed during the aid efforts, causing the death of 9, including 5 soldiers, under debris. The country suspended education.

A person died after a landslide occurred in Panama while Honduran authorities announced that 5 people died in the flood waters.

According to the national meteorology service in Mexico, Julia will get weaker as she stays on land and recede to a tropical storm level. Julia is making her way through Mexico and Guatemala and expected to induce downpours and high winds.
