Category 4 Hurricane Lidia struck western Mexico with winds reaching 220 kilometers per hour, causing heavy rains and disruptions. A fatality occurred when a falling tree crushed a car in the north of Puerto Vallarta. Mexican President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador called on residents in Nayarit and Jalisco states to stay indoors, and the Puerto Vallarta Airport closed temporarily. The Mexican government deployed 6,000 armed forces personnel and civil defense teams to assist the affected regions.
