Indonesia Wildfires Destroy Over 300 Homes

Wildfires in Indonesia’s Bangka-Belitung Islands have completely destroyed 305 homes and forced the urgent evacuation of around 500 residents. Local disaster management officials noted that strong winds, peatland terrain, and wooden architecture are severely hampering efforts to control the ongoing blaze. While no fatalities have been reported, this disaster adds to a devastating fire season that has already scorched over 200,000 hectares of land across the country this year.
