Iran blasts off Khayyam satellite carried by Russian Soyuz rocket

Iran’s Khayyam satellite was launched by Russian carries Soyuz from Kazakhstan’s Baikonur Cosmodrome. The use and control of the satellite will be carried out by Iranian experts at Iranian bases, reports said. Khayyam will be used for increasing productivity in the field of agriculture, monitoring the country’s water resources correctly, environmental hazards, the borders of the country and many other terrirotial issues.

The satellite has a weight of 600 kilograms, and it will be able to provide images with accuracy of 1 meter to Iran four times a day, authorities said.
