As part of the ceasefire agreement, Israel released 641 Palestinian prisoners overnight, with 456 arriving in Gaza on Red Cross buses. The exchange, delayed due to Israeli violations, followed Hamas’ handover of four Israeli prisoners’ bodies.
Many released detainees showed signs of mistreatment, with some suffering fractures from beatings. Several were taken to the European Gaza Hospital in Khan Younis for treatment. Chief nurse Saleh al-Hams reported cases of skin diseases and pulmonary fibrosis among the prisoners.
Israel also delayed the release of 24 children and two adults who were expected at the hospital, along with 15 medical staff members among the freed detainees.
