Eden Golan, Israel’s representative in the 68th Eurovision contest in Malmö, Belgium, was protested during her final performance yesterday. Many spectators in the hall booed the Israeli contestant, who came in 5th place, and chanted “Palestine”. Following the incident, Belgian television cut off the broadcast and aired a text condemning the attacks and calling for a ceasefire.
Meanwhile, thousands of anti-war demonstrators in the city protested Israel’s participation in the competition with Palestinian flags in their hands.
